About

Dedicated Community Leader and Advocate for Milton's Heritage

Hello, I’m Doug. Lindsey and I met as Sophomores in college at Georgia (Go Dawgs) and have been married 23 years. We’ve raised our two boys, Marshall and Mathis, here in Milton on Bethany Way.

I’m from here and we built a home we plan on being in for as long as the Lord will have us. Mathis has already claimed first right of refusal if we ever want to sell.

We have two boxers, Lucy and Lolly and are avid Georgia fans. Below are some highlights about me, but I’d much rather meet you face to face and have a conversation.

I’m hopeful that happens very soon.

Doug continued his educational journey at the University of Georgia, where he not only earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance but also proudly represented the Dawgs as a Linebacker on the Football Team. In 2003, he obtained his MBA from Georgia State University, equipping himself with the financial acumen to succeed in business and prepare himself to be a steward for responsible growth in Milton.

On the personal front, Doug is a loving husband and father. He has been married to his lovely, amazing, wonderful wife, Lindsey, for 23 years, and together they have raised two sons. Marshall is currently pursuing higher education at Samford University in Birmingham, while Mathis is a junior at King’s Ridge Christian School. Both boys are actively involved in Wake, Camp Arrowhead and YoungLife.

Education & Personal Background

As a protector of what makes Milton special, Doug is unwavering in his mission to preserve the equestrian landscape and rural character of the city. His vision encompasses alleviating growth-related challenges, particularly along the Hwy 9 corridor, while ensuring that development does not impede on the green spaces that are the hallmark of Milton.

With a finance background and community-centric approach, Doug’s leadership aims to strike a balance between progression and preservation, ensuring that the city’s evolution remains in harmony with the values dear to its residents.

Vision for Milton

In addition to his role on the Design Review Board, Doug is actively involved at Stonecreek Church, King's Ridge Christian School, and in YoungLife. His involvement (over decades in some cases) in these organizations demonstrates his commitment to nurturing a sense of community and fostering relationships and values that resonate with Milton's identity. Additionally, he participates in civic organizations such as Second Helpings in Atlanta.

One of Doug’s recent contributions is the rallying of the community around the development of the District of Mayfield. He listened intently to the concerns and visions of fellow residents, land and business owners and worked diligently with committee members to craft a plan that the community could embrace with pride.
